Dear
Students,
Welcome to the Balıkesir University Graduate School of Health Sciences.
First of all, I would like to
congratulate you on joining this scientific journey within our country’s
academic community and wish you every success in your education and training,
as well as in your scientific research and thesis studies.
Our Graduate School was established to
provide postgraduate education in the field of health sciences through
departments affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Faculty of Sport Sciences. Currently,
postgraduate education is offered in twenty-one departments, including nine
doctoral programs and twenty-three thesis-based master’s programs.
In line with the principles of ethical
values, transparency, equality, and participation, our priorities include
creating a fair and safe academic environment where every student can freely
express themselves; improving the quality of students in postgraduate programs;
opening interdisciplinary programs; updating course contents in accordance with
current conditions; increasing inter-institutional cooperation; transforming
thesis studies into publications; promoting the Graduate School; and improving
educational, research, and administrative facilities.
The opinions and suggestions of our
students are considered an important guide in the development of our education
and training processes. At the beginning of each academic year, orientation
programs are organized for newly enrolled students, during which information
about the stages of postgraduate education is provided. From the coursework
phase through the thesis stage and up to graduation, the administration of our
Graduate School supports students in all academic procedures and in resolving
any issues they may encounter.
The courses offered in our postgraduate
programs are updated each academic year in line with the recommendations of
departments, students, and external stakeholders, and are delivered in a
theoretical and practical manner in accordance with contemporary requirements.
In this context, great importance is attached to ensuring that course contents
are aligned with current scientific developments, that applied and
research-based learning methods are used, and that educational models
encouraging active student participation are implemented.
Our Graduate School aims to train
qualified researchers and academics in the field of health sciences who are
equipped with scientific and technological knowledge and who can contribute to
the needs of our country and the academic world. We seek to ensure that our
students become active learners who research and produce knowledge, and that
through our high-quality postgraduate programs, we contribute to productive,
universal, and contemporary science while enabling our graduates to attain
distinguished positions in their fields. Furthermore, we aim to be a reputable
institution that continuously increases scientific research at national and
international levels.
In this direction, our main priorities
include developing research, application, and educational activities;
encouraging the production of science and technology; supporting scientific
projects; and presenting the outcomes for the benefit of our country and
humanity.
The Balıkesir Journal of Health
Sciences, published by our Graduate School, aims to reach all national and international
medical institutions and professionals. It is a peer-reviewed, double-blind
journal that publishes original research articles, case reports, invited
reviews, and letters to the editor in the fields of Medicine, Veterinary
Medicine, Health Sciences, and Sport Sciences, in both Turkish and English. The
journal is published as one volume per year with three issues in February,
June, and October, featuring a maximum of twenty-five articles per issue and a
total of seventy-five articles annually. It is an international, open-access
journal published free of charge, adhering to ethical rules and scientific
standards, and free from commercial concerns.
Among the policies adopted by our
Graduate School are encouraging the production of universally relevant
knowledge and technology through thesis studies that contribute to science and
benefit internal and external stakeholders; promoting scientific research that
supports the development and progress of our region and country; adhering to
universal standards in education and training; adopting a participatory
management approach; and rewarding and encouraging successful students and
staff.
As the Graduate School of Health
Sciences, we embrace an education and training approach based on scientific
thinking, universal values, and a student-centered perspective. Our
student-oriented approach is among the fundamental principles of our Graduate
School. In addition to academic success, we also value the personal, social,
and cultural development of our students. Within the campus, students have
access to a central library for academic use, as well as facilities such as a
swimming pool, sports hall, football field, and social spaces where they can
engage in recreational activities.
Believing that the efforts and contributions
you will make as a part of this great academic family will add significant
value both to your own future and to the advancement of science and society, I
wish all our students a successful, productive, and meaningful postgraduate
education life.
Sincerely, Director Balıkesir
